We (Ebook)
In a city of glass where every gesture is measured and every thought may be seen, the illusion of perfect order begins to fracture under the weight of the human spirit.
We unfolds within the One State, a mathematical civilization governed by precision, surveillance, and the promise of collective harmony. When D-503, a loyal builder of the Integral, encounters an unexpected disturbance in the form of love and inner doubt, the certainty of his world begins to unravel into contradiction and fear.
At its core, the novel is a visionary exploration of individuality against the machinery of total order. Zamiatin renders a world where reason becomes doctrine, and the longing for freedom emerges not as rebellion alone, but as an irreversible awakening of consciousness.
• A foundational dystopian masterpiece that influenced modern speculative fiction
• A profound meditation on individuality, control, and the limits of rational order
• A stark, lyrical vision of society where freedom and certainty cannot coexist
This Carlini Classics ebook edition features the complete, unabridged text, carefully formatted for a seamless digital reading experience.
A prophetic vision of the cost of perfect order.
About the author
Evgenii Zamiatin (1884–1937) was a Russian novelist, playwright, and satirist whose dystopian masterpiece We (1921) pioneered the genre and influenced Orwell’s 1984. A trained naval engineer turned rebellious writer, his works blended scientific precision with biting social critique, challenging both Tsarist and Bolshevik dogma. Exiled by the Soviet regime for his unflinching dissent, Zamiatin died in Paris—a visionary voice warning against the dehumanizing machinery of totalitarianism.
