Time bends. Space warps. Genius endures—simply told.

In Simply Einstein, Jimena Canales offers a clear and engaging guide to the life and ideas of Albert Einstein, one of the most influential figures in modern science. Within its concise framework, the book explores both the development of Einstein's theories and the broader context in which they emerged.

Canales traces Einstein's intellectual journey from his early curiosity and unconventional education to his groundbreaking contributions to physics. Central concepts such as relativity, the nature of space and time, and the relationship between energy and matter are introduced in an accessible manner, showing how they transformed scientific understanding. The study also considers Einstein's role within the scientific community, as well as his public life and engagement with social and political issues.

From the miraculous year of 1905—when a twenty-six-year-old patent clerk published four papers that changed physics forever—to the completion of the general theory of relativity a decade later, to his later years as a global icon of pacifism and scientific integrity, Canales walks the reader through the essential ideas that made Einstein a household name. She explains the photoelectric effect (for which he won the Nobel Prize), special relativity (which gave us E=mc²), and general relativity (which revealed that gravity is not a force but a curvature of spacetime). She also examines Einstein's failures, his resistance to quantum mechanics, and his lonely pursuit of a unified field theory.

This is Canales at her most lucid and inviting: a guide to the man who showed us that time is not what it seems, that the universe is stranger than we imagined, and that curiosity—even when mocked, even when doubted—is the engine of discovery.
