About the Author
Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832–1910) was a Norwegian writer, poet, and playwright, and one of the most important figures in Norwegian literature. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1903, he is celebrated for his peasant novels, nationalistic poetry, and dramatic works. Alongside Henrik Ibsen, he helped shape modern Norwegian cultural identity. A Happy Boy remains one of his most enduring and beloved stories.
