Casa Carlini is a fiscally sponsored, mission-driven independent publisher through Fractured Atlas, based in New York City, dedicated to amplifying literature through digital innovation. Help bring our books into the public conversation. We’re seeking a sharp, media-savvy Publicist Intern to support press outreach, author visibility, and campaign execution across our growing list of titles.

What You’ll Do

This unpaid educational internship follows U.S. Department of Labor FLSA guidelines, prioritizing your learning as the primary beneficiary with hands-on publishing experience tied to your formal education (academic credit required).

Assist in developing and executing publicity campaigns for new and backlist titles.
Research media contacts, literary outlets, podcasts, and influencers aligned with our books.
Draft and distribute press materials including pitches, press releases, and media kits.
Track outreach, responses, and coverage using spreadsheets and CRM-style tools.
Support author platform development through coordinated publicity efforts.
Monitor media trends and identify timely opportunities for placement and cultural relevance.
Receive training in book publicity strategy, campaign timing, and independent press positioning through mentorship by our founder.

Qualifications

Enrolled in communications, public relations, publishing, journalism, or related academic program; must be able to receive academic credit.
Strong writing and research skills with an eye for compelling angles and narratives.
Interest in media, publishing, and cultural conversations around books and ideas.
Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple outreach threads.
Familiarity with Google Workspace; experience with media databases or PR tools is a plus (training provided).
Passion for literature and enthusiasm for amplifying independent voices.
