Casa Carlini is a fiscally sponsored, mission-driven independent publisher through Fractured Atlas, based in NYC, and dedicated to amplifying literature through digital innovation. Help readers discover our books! We’re seeking a Metadata & Book Discovery Intern to optimize keywords, ONIX data, categories, and descriptions that boost visibility on Amazon, IngramSpark, Bookshop.org, and search engines.
This unpaid educational internship follows U.S. Department of Labor FLSA guidelines, prioritizing your learning as the primary beneficiary with hands-on training tied to your formal education (academic credit required).
Research and optimize metadata for our titles (keywords, BISAC/Amazon categories, subtitles, series info, comp titles) to improve search rankings and sales.
Receive structured training in publishing discoverability (ONIX standards, A+ content, SEO for books) with iterative feedback like classroom critiques.
Audit existing listings, prepare metadata spreadsheets, test search performance; work complements our team under close supervision.
Enrolled in marketing, library science, publishing, data analytics, or related program; must be able to receive academic credit.
Strong research/organizational skills; familiarity with Amazon KDP, keyword tools (Publisher Rocket), or Excel/Google Sheets.
Passion for books/discoverability, detail-oriented, curious about algorithms; open to feedback for remote Zoom/Trello work.
Portfolio-ready metadata projects (before/after search rankings, keyword reports) credited on casacarlini.com.
Stipend-eligible via school programs (e.g., Barnard BBIP, Duke Funding, CUNY Magner)—include details in applications.
Mentorship from publishing pros, free books, references; flexible remote hours in a book-loving team. No paid role entitlement post-internship.
How to Apply: Email resume, relevant project sample (e.g., keyword research), and a brief note on book discoverability to jobs@casacarlini.com. Subject: “Metadata & Book Discovery Intern – [Your School/Program]”. Rolling review; start May/June 2026.
