Donor & Grant Development Intern
Location: Fully Remote
Duration: 10–12 weeks (Summer/Fall 2026, flexible to align with academic calendar)

Casa Carlini is a fiscally sponsored, mission-driven independent publisher through Fractured Atlas, based in NYC and dedicated to amplifying literature through digital innovation. Build sustainable funding for books that matter! We’re seeking a Donor & Grant Development Intern to research prospects, craft proposals, and support fundraising that powers our publishing mission.
This unpaid educational internship follows U.S. Department of Labor FLSA guidelines, prioritizing your learning as the primary beneficiary with hands-on training tied to your formal education (academic credit required).
Research prospective donors, foundations, and grants aligned with literary arts/publishing (NEA, local NYC funds, literary patrons).
Receive structured training in nonprofit development (LOIs, grant calendars, donor stewardship, Fractured Atlas reporting) with iterative feedback like classroom critiques.
Assist donor communications, maintain fundraising trackers, support campaign materials; work complements our team under close supervision.careers.
Enrolled in nonprofit management, communications, English, public policy, or related program; must be able to receive academic credit.
Strong research/writing skills; familiarity with grant databases (Foundation Directory, GrantStation) or donor CRMs a plus.
Passion for books/philanthropy, organized, persuasive communicator for remote Zoom/Trello collaboration.
Portfolio-ready grant proposals and donor strategies credited in funding success stories.
Stipend-eligible via school programs (e.g., Barnard BBIP, Duke Funding, CUNY Magner)—include details in applications.
Mentorship from publishing/development pros, free books, references; flexible remote hours in a book-loving team. No paid role entitlement post-internship.
